Assist to Caroline Sta. 200 (10)
At 1:40 on 10/18/2009 Sta. 50 was alerted on the initial dispatch to assist Caroline Sta. 200 with a odor of smoke in the residence at 22350 Hog Creek Road. When Chief 2 (215 Milligan) arrived on location, he advised smoke showing from the attic and established Hog Creek Command. Shortly afterwards fire blew out the 2nd floor windows. The crews from E-54 (501 Secrist) assisted with suppression and overhaul. The incident went to a 2nd alarm for additional equipment and manpower, which included T-53 (FF Faulkner) from Sta. 50. Cordova units cleared the scene at approximately 04:00. Thanks to Bruce Secrist for the photos. -
Plane Crash (17)
At 3:40 on October 6 , 2009 Talbot Center dispatched Stations 50, 80, and 60 for a plane crash near Lewistown Road. Talbot County EMS and Hazmat Team were also alerted for the call. E-85 arrived on location and 802 assumed Lewistown Road Command. The incident involved a 4 passenger plane that crash landed in a bean field. The sole occupant of the plane was flown by Trooper 6 to Shock Trauma. 802 transferred command to 501 when he arrived on location. The mutual aid equipment was released and Sta. 50 equipment remained on scene for a short time until the FAA representative arrived on location. -
Working House Fire (21)
At 17:11 on 6/28/2009 Stations 50, 80, 60, and TCEMS were dispatched to a reported working house at 11461 Old Cordova Road. E-52 (503 Larmore) arrived on location with a 2 story residence with smoke showing and assumed command. The crew of E-52 made a quick knockdown of the fire and contained it to a single bedroom. There was some extension into the walls of the structure that required overall by crews from Sta. 60 and 80. Once the overhaul was complete, the mutual aid units cleared the scene. Sta. 50 units remained on scene while fire marshall's office investigated the scene. -
Assist to Sta. 40 (14)
On 6/26/2009 Sta. 50 was alerted to transfer one engine to Sta. 40 while they were out on a working building fire at 166 N. Talbot Street. E-54 (503 Larmore) responded at approximately 06:00. Once they arrived at Sta. 40, their assignment was changed to respond to the scene. The crew from E-54 assisted with overhaul and cleanup. Thanks to Bruce Secrist for the photos. -
MVA With Entrapment (15)
On 5/22/2009 Sta. 50 was alerted for an engine to assist Sta. 80 with a serious MVA at Rt 404 and Rt. 480. E-54 (501 Secrist) responded at 12:37 on the call to handle the LZ. The crew from E-54 helped with extracation of the driver of one of the vehicles. The patient was heavily trapped and took approximately 45 minutes to free. Once removed, the patient was flown by Trooper 6. E-54 cleared at 13:41. -
Assist to QA Sta. 4 (22)
Sta. 50 was alerted as part of the 2nd Alarm Assignment for a working building fire at the intersection of John Brown Road and Bloomingdale Road on 5/21/2009. E-51 and T-53 reponded on the call in Centreville's first due. Both units joined the water shuttle to supply the scene, while the crew from E-51 helped with overhaul. The building was an old chicken house that was being used as several business. Sta. 50 units cleared the scene at 14:45. Thanks to Bruce Secrist for photos. -
04/23/2009 Fatal MVA (8)
At 14:55 on 04/22/2009 Sta. 50 was alert to assist Sta. 80 on a serious MVA on Rt 309 in the area of Horseshoe Road. E-51 (503 Larmore) responded on the call. Officer 801 (Unruh) had command of the scene. Shortly after arrival, command advised that there was one priority four patient that was trapped. The crew from E-51 remained available from the scene for the duration of the call. Rt 309 was closed for approximately 3 hours while MSP conducted an investigation. 03/25/2009 Woods Fire (19)
Station 50 was alerted for a natural cover fire in the area of 33182 Matthewstown Road at 14:38 on 03/25/2009. B-56(502 Messix), E-52, and T-53 responded on the call. While enroute, Talbot Center advised that it was a working fire and that access might need to be made to the scene from 33382 Fox Road. B-56 arrived on location with a working woods fire and 502 assumed command. Command had the other units use the second address to access the fire. DNR forestry 26 and 5 also responded on the call and helped with suppression and mop up. Units were on the scene for approximately 1 hour. Photos taken by Bruce Secrist. -
03/24/2009 MVA With Flyout (10)
At 17:10 on 03/24/2009 Talbot Center dispatched Sta. 50 and Talbot EMS for a MVA with rollover on Rt. 328 in the area of Kitty's Corner Road. -
03/17/2009 Extracation Drill (6)
In an effort to improve the capabilities of the company, the department recently purchased a Paratech Vehicle Stabilization Kit. On 3/17/2009, the representative from Fire and Rescue Products delivered the set and provided training using several vehicles turned on their sides and roof. The members practiced stabilizing the cars with the new equipment. After that, they cut, pryed, pushed, and sawed the cars apart with our extracation equipment. The Cordova Vol. Firemen's Association would like to give the Ladies Aux. a special thanks for providing the new stabilization kit to the company as one of the many gifts they gave us at our annual banquet. 02/16/2009 Natural Cover Fire (10)
Station 50 was alerted for a natural cover fire at 12761 Richland Lane on 2/16/2009. Brush 56 (501 Secrist), E-52 (503 Larmore), T-53 (FF Garrett), and E-54 (Eng Dulin) responded on the call. Just prior to arriving on the scene Talbot Center advised that several outbuildings were threatened by the fire. B-56 arrived on location with a working fire natural cover fire and a small fire in an exposure building. 501 assumed commend and requested an brush and engine out of Sta. 80. Both B-56 and E-52 pulled lines and quickly knocked down the fire. B-87 and Forestry 5 assisted on the call. -
02/08/2009 Fire Drill (15)
On 2/08/2009 Sta. 50 conducted a fire drill while burning a small two story barn on Lewistown Road. Sta. 80 assisted and brought an engine and a tanker. Thanks to Bruce Secrist for taking and providing pictures -
Assist to QA Sta. 2 (7)
On 02/05/2009 Sta. 50 was alerted for an engine and tanker as part of the 2nd alarm assignment for a working house fire on Bennett Point Road. Both units staged and were later released. Thanks to Bruce Secrist for taking and providing photos. -
02/04/2009 Fatal MVA (8)
On 2/04/2009 at 07:23 Sta. 50 was alerted to assist Sta. 80 with multiple MVAs on Rt. 50 in the area of Rt. 404. E-51 (503 Larmore) and PM-51 responded on the call. Both units assisted with a fatal MVA in the area of the 56 mile marker. PM-51 transported one patient to Easton Memorial. Additional photos are available in the photo gallery. -
