Barn Fire
At 22:40 on 2/19/2010, Sta. 50 was alerted to assist Sta. 80 with a barn at 2113 Starr Road. E-85 with 802McNeal arrived on location with a working barn fire and established Starr Road Command. E-52 (503 Larmore) and T-53 (501 Secrist) responded on the call. Shortly after arrival, Command requested a 2nd alarm bring additional companies from Talbot, Queen Anne, and Caroline Counties. The crew from E-52 assisted with suppression and overhaul, while 501 had water supply operations. T-53 and E-52 were involved in the water shuttle. All units cleared at 00:29.
Unknown Type Fire
At 02:56 on 1/12/2010 Sta. 50 was dispatched for an unknown type fire at Kingston Landing. E-54 (501 Secrist), T-53 (503 Larmore) and E-52 (FF Pearson) responded on the call. While enroute, Talbot Center advised that the reporting call had heard an explosion and had fire visible at the landing. E-54 arrived on location to find a working car fire and 501 established Kingston Landing Command. The front part of the vehicle in the Choptank River. Talbot County Sheriff's Dept. and State Fire Marshall's Office are investigating the incident.
Annual Banquet
The Cordova Vol. Firemen's Assoc. held its annual banquet on Jan. 9, 2010. The company would like to thank all that attended this event. Special guest included mutual aid companies and local, county, and state representatives. Awards were presented to the top fire and ems responders for 2009. Randy Satchell won Firefighter of the Year, with Bill Dulin receiving runner-up. Lonnie Larmore took home Officer of the Year. Andrew Hughes won Ambulance Attendant of the Year, and Jim Morris Jr. got runner-up. Photos are located in the 2010 Photo Gallery.
