Sing Along With Santa

On Friday December 7th, Santa made a special visit to Sta. 50 to visit all of the children and parents of the area! They got to sing Christmas carols and sit on Santa's lap to give him their Christmas list.

2 Multiple Alarm Fires in Trappe

At 15:34 on 12/02/2007 Sta. 50 was dispatched for an engine on the 2nd alarm of a house fire at 1427 Chancellor's Point Road in Sta. 30's first due. E-54 (501 Messix) responded on the call. The unit went in staging and cleared at 16:28.

On 12/3/2007 Sta. 50 was again alerted on the 2nd Alarm in Sta. 30's first due for a building fire at 3100 Chancellor's Point Road. E-54 (502 Secrist) responded on the call. Shortly there after T-53 was dispatched as part to of the Tanker Task Force. T-53 (505 Dawson) responded and shuttled water for the duration of the call. E-54 arrived on location and laid 500' of LDH to supply Dorchester T-1. The crew from E-54 assisted with suppression and overhaul while E-54 shuttled water. All units cleared at 20:52. Transfer and Tanker Assist

On 11/29/2007 at 17:50 Sta. 50 was alerted to transfer an engine to Caroline Sta. 400. Sta 400 was on the second alarm of a working house fire in Queen Anne Co. Sta. 4 1st due. Minutes later, Sta. 50 was alerted for a tanker to go to the scene of the fire at 255 Burton Air Drive. E-54 (502 Secrist) responded on the transfer, and T-53 (FF Pearson) went to the scene. T-53 shuttled 10,000 gallons of water while on the scene. All units were back in station at 19:04

Company Drill

On 11/20/2007 Sta. 50 held their company drill at MFRI Centreville. The members used the burn building to practice live fire evolutions. They were divided into 3 teams: fire attack, search & rescue, and ventilation while conducting the burns. The company would like to thank the MFRI instructors for a great drill. A Gentle Reminder

Daylight Savings Time ends at 02:00 on Sunday November 4th. This is a perfect time to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Also check to make sure that the detectors are working properly by pressing the test button on the detector.

Eastern Shore Vol. Firemen's Assoc.

The Cordova Vol. Firemen's Assoc. would like to congratulate company President Tom Diem on being elected President of the Eastern Shore Vol. Firemen's Assoc for the upcoming year. Elections were held on 9/16/2007 during the meeting held at Sta. 50. His dedication and hardwork will certainly be an asset to that organization.

Delmarva Parade

The Cordova Vol. Firemen's Association recently attended the Delmarva Parade hosted by Caroline County Station 300 Denton. Cordova received four trophies: Best Appearing MD Company, Best Appearing Brush Truck, Best Appearing Pumper 1-10 years of age, and Second Best Appearing Tanker.

Working Combine Fire

On 10/9/2207 Sta. 50 was dispatched for a combine fire on Church Lane in the area of Cordova Skipton Road at 10:35. E-52 (504 Dulin), T-53, and B-56 responded on the call. E-52 arrived on location with a working combine fire and 504 assumed command. Units returned to service at 12:12.

MVA With Ejection

At 21:52 on 10/3/2007, Sta. 50 and TCEMS were alerted for an MVA on Matthewstown Road in the area of Turkey Creek Road. E-51 (501 Messix), E-54 (502 Secrist), and PM -51 responded from Sta. 50. PM-95 and PM-99 responded from TCEMS. E-51 arrived on location with one vehicle overturned in the roadway and 501 assumed command. The MVA involved one patient that was ejected from the vehicle. Aviation was requested for the patient. E-54 handled the LZ and the patient was flown by Trooper 6 to Shock Truama. Units cleared the scene at 23:53.

Working Tractor Fire

At 17:51 Sta. 50 was dispatched for a tractor fire in the area of Cordova Road and Old Cordova Road. E-54 (501 Messix) and T-53 (502 Secrist) responded on the call. E-54 was unable to locate the fire and had the dispatcher recontact the reporting caller. After several attempts, it was determined that fire was not located at the original location, but at another intersection of the same roads in Sta. 60's area. T-53 arrived on location a short time later with a working tractor fire and 502 assumed command. All units cleared the scene at 18:40. http://www.cordovavfa.org/photo-gallery/
